KUALA LUMPUR — Sri Lanka President Mahinda Rajapaksa expressed his greetings and best wishes to His Majesty Sultan Qaboos when he received here yesterday

Yusuf bin Alawi bin Abdallah, Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs.

Rajapaska wished the Omani people further progress and prosperity. Alawi conveyed the greetings and best wishes of His Majesty to President Rajapaska and the

friendly people of Sri Lanka.

Meanwhile, Alawi attended the Indian Ocean Rim Association for Regional Cooperation (IOR-ARC) meeting in New Delhi, India.

The meeting, held against the backdrop of the Indian Ocean emerging as a new theatre of maritime competition, India pitched for more robust “co-operative regionalism”

among 20 countries along its rim in the area of maritime security. The US joined the group as its dialogue partner.

The 19 members of the group are Australia, Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Iran, Kenya, Malaysia, Madagascar, Mauritius, Mozambique, Oman, the Seychelles, Singapore,

South Africa, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, Thailand, the UAE and Yemen. — ONA/IANS
