Donations for Flood Relief in Sri Lanka Thousands of people have been displaced while many have lost their lives following continuous rain prevailing over the last few days throughout the Island. 242,152 persons have been displaced, and 22 out of the 25 districts in Sri Lanka have been affected. The Sri Lankan expatriate community in Oman can assist in bringing relief to the affected people.An arrangement has been made by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Colombowhereby the Embassy can accept cash donations and transmit the same to the Government of Sri Lanka, for providing relief to the affected people.The Embassy will issue an official receipt for all the cash donations would be made. Considering the time factor, the cost involved in transporting the relief materials and the possible difficulties that could arise during customsclearance, it is encouraged to provide monetary assistance rather than send relief items.Please note that the Embassy does not have any monetary provisions to bear the cost of air/shippingfreight for sending relief items to Sri Lanka. The Ministry of Disaster Management together with the Ministry of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine has identified the following list of immediate relief material and medical items required as relief assistance for the victims of the floods and landslides in Sri Lanka.
